A Vocation of patronage
In 1984 he created the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art in Paris, to pay tribute to living creations, to encourage and defend them, while promoting the name of Cartier in the world of culture.
In 1986 he was named Representative for the Patronage of Business by François Léotard, Minister of Culture & Communication, and was author of “French Patronage”, which gave rise to the Léotard Law in July 1987.
